It’s Just Simply Spring…

The weather this afternoon has given me a great excuse to leave the gardening for another day and make some Easter decorations instead. So, I popped down to my local florist/ friend Urs at Toscanini and stocked up with some lovely flowers… …which intrigued someone…  …with a little help from my furry friend I created these… …and the end result is “simply Spring”… …it was obviously hard work for some.

Spring Inspiration

With Spring on the doorstep, I’m on the loose. I’m a collector of inspirations, a hunter of emotions. I try to capture both. Searching, finding, capturing the moment and turning it into a post for you…   …and I’m never know what’s going to come next… MerkenMerken

Blooms In A Cake

Out of my kitchen window I can see my neighbors Elder bush in full bloom which gave me the idea for this post… The Ingredients 3 Elderflower umbels 125g butter 125g sugar 3 eggs 1.5dl milk 1 Vanilla pod 1/2 lemon zest 250g flour 1 sachet baking powder Heat the milk, pick the flowers off one of the umbels and add to the milk with the seeds of the vanilla. leave to infuse for 1 to 2 hours. Preheat the oven at 180°C. Mix the butter, sugar and eggs. Add the rest of the elderflower (pick them off the umbels first), the lemon, flour and baking powder. Sift the milk through a sieve and stir well. Fill the mixture in to a round tin ca. 24cm and bake for 45 minutes in the bottom half of the oven. Blooms in a bake, Elderflower Cake…

Flower Power

Spring, sunshine, weekend…it doesn’t get much better! The boy’s are all out. My little girl and I decided to go off on a bike ride. We cycled out to the fields behind our village to pick some fresh spring flowers. With the wind in our hair, the sun warming skin and not a worry in the world we flew along until we came across a field in full bloom. Beautiful! With an armful of fresh flowers we headed back home to do some gardening… …or maybe not…

Spring Break

The suns shining, spring is in full bloom. I’m full of energy but after a busy morning it’s time for a quick break. With the boys in their hockey camp and our youngest in the garden, swinging in the hammock with her little friend, I’ve got 5 minutes to myself. Time to catch my breath and read the newspaper. (With a bit of luck I might even be able to read an article without having to start it at least three times.) My Spring Coffee Break
