Merry Christmas

Christmas is here and here’s a one of my favorites … cinnamon stars. The Ingredients 3 egg whites 1 pinch of salt 200g icing sugar 1 tbsp cinnamon 1 tbsp lemon juice 350g finely ground almonds Beat the egg whites and salt. Gently sieve the icing sugar into the egg whites until shiny.Take a third of the egg white mixture out of the bowl and save for the icing. Add the cinnamon, lemon juice and almonds. Mix until it turns into a dough.Roll out to about 1 cm thick and start cutting out the stars. Now use the leftover icing sugar to decorate the stars. Leave for a couple of hours then put in the middle of the preheated oven (250°C) with the door slightly open for three minutes. With all the preparations done, all that’s left, is to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Your Tammy Twinkle

Simple Scented Decorations

Sometimes simple is special. All you need is some oranges, cloves, cinnamon sticks and ribbons. My little helper got straight to work sticking the cloves into the oranges and tying up the cinnamon sticks (a bit tricky for little fingers, so I was allowed to join in). When finished these decorations don’t only look nice they also scent the room with orange, cloves, cinnamon and pine…how divine!

Winter Spice Cake

It’s the first of Advent today. It’s cold and stormy outside so what better way to enjoy it than with a warm fire, a mug of coffee and a piece of winter spice cake. The Ingredients 125g butter 3 eggs 125g brown sugar 1 pinch of salt 1.5 dl milk 250g flour (or in my case 150g flour and 100g ground hazelnuts, I ran out flour) 1 sachet baking powder 2 tsp cardamom, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp nutmeg Preheat the oven at 180°C. Mix all the ingredients together and bake for 45 minutes (or if using a baking shape like mine for 30 minutes). It went down a treat…
