It’s a bank holiday, so we took the kids camping in the mountains. It was the first camping trip for our little ones (not counting camping in the back garden). They were very excited! After breakfast we packed the car…the cats were very intrigued, fortunately we have very nice neighbours (thank you Cécile and Nils) who took care of them for us, while we were away. With everything sorted, it was time for the adventure to begin.. After about an hour drive we arrived at the camping “Vorauen” in the Klöntal. After unpacking the car and setting up the tent, it was time to explore… …first down to the lake (the water level was extremely low for this time of the year due to the dry weather we’ve been having)… …and then off to the waterfall. After all the excitement of the day, we enjoyed a relaxing evening in front of our campfire in the spectacular scenery of the Klöntal. We all slept very well and woke up to another glorios day! But unfortunately, after breakfast …
It’s been absolutely pouring down with rain for the last couple of days, so it’s great to leave my wellies in the garage and head up the hill with my furry friend in glorious sunshine… …from busy bees to lazy lizards… …and a refreshing bath to end a perfect walk!
We had an extremely cold and foggy morning today, you could hardly see from one lamppost to the next! Thankfully the sun has managed to burn it up this afternoon, so with blue skies beckoning we (my daughter, dog and I) headed off up the hill to enjoy some warm sunshine… …and it was fantastic! I should probably have taken some sunglasses to go with my wooly hat and gloves.
It’s a bit foggy this afternoon, the sun is trying to burn it up but isn’t having much luck. No reason though for staying indoors. We decided to go for a walk in the vineyards behind our house… With her big brothers at school our daughter decided to play hide and seek with our dog… “Where has she gone?” “Below you!” Shortly after we got back the boys came home from school. They heard all about our walk and felt a bit left out…so to compensate we cooked some marshmallows over a fire in the back garden. Simply enjoying autumn!
Autumn is on our doorstep, the gras and trees are turning to a dull shade of green and the flowers are fading. So making the most of the dry weather, we headed off to the woods for a walk. We collected pinecones and dry branches to make a campfire… …the kids absolutely loved it and after a run around the woods, what better way to recharge those batteries than with a campfire cooked sausage! …On her best behavior… (or maybe it was a pose to pounce on anything that hit the floor), but fortunatly our youngest took pity on her a gave her a bit of hers.
This is what a summer evening is for… …making memories.
It’s been a long wait. With spring being very rainy and quite cool, meant that the snow line was low and that prevented us form doing any hiking in the mountains. But at last, the sun is out and the temperatures have risen. So at long last it’s time to get our hiking boots out and head to the mountains. We took the kids and our doggy hiking up the mountain Rigi near Lucerne. What better way to end a long hike than with a cool drink, a lie down and the possibility to take the train back…
At last! Summer is here! We’ve been waiting and waiting and my poor tomato plants have been growing and growing (check my post Sowing The Seeds). But not outside, in our conservatory. Now at last I can set them free… …some of us are busy bees… …and some of us just simply enjoying the sunny weather…
This weekend we’ve had a family get together in the “Appenzellerland” (east part of Switzerland). The weather could have been better… Hiking Dining And More Hiking Never fear rain was always near! …but despite the drenching we had a great time!
The kids are on their Spring Break so today we decided to go on an outing to the outdoor museum in Ballenberg, only to find that it was still closed for winter and doesn’t open until this coming Friday. (bad planing on my side) So instead we went to visit the beautiful little town Thun in the Bernese Oberland. The kids loved it because it not only has a weir in the middle of the town but it also has it’s own castle too! The Weir The Castle The best way to end a good day out… …with ice cream!
