Apple Tart – Swiss Art

This morning I decided to make an Apple Tart or as the swiss call it an “Öpfelwähe”. I had some left over dough in the fridge so I got to work rolling it out and fitting it in the baking tray. I pricked the base and sprinkled ground hazelnuts on it. After slicing the apples and placing them in a circular pattern on the nuts, I put the tray in the preheated oven (235°C) for 16 minutes and got on with the filling.
But to my surprise/annoyance someone had used the last of the eggs for breakfast. Thank goodness we have very nice neighbours, so the kids popped round and brought me the much needed three eggs.
The filling then completed, I managed to have a quick shower before the oven beeped. I poured the filling carefully over the apples and put it back in the oven for another 16 minutes.
There after I left it to cool off, much to the dismay of our ever hungry Labrador that was sitting in the kitchen with her nose twitching towards the work surface hoping to hypnotise  the tart to her bowl.

Dough

300g flour
1 tsp salt
100g butter
10 tbsp water

Base

50g ground hazelnuts
3 sliced apples

Filling

3 eggs
3dl milk
3 tbsp sugar
cinnamon, nutmeg
